Senior Research Associate

Chandani Limbad
Research Associate II

Chandani pursued a MS in Biomedical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of NYU. Currently, she is a graduate student in the Campisi lab through UC Berkeley. Her project is focused on mechanisms of mTOR, particularly to discover S6K2 substrates and identify their role in modulating SASP (senescence associated secretory phenotype) and cancer progression.

Jose Alberto Lopez-Dominguez
Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Kevin Perrott
Graduate Student

Kevin Perrott is a cancer survivor and serial entrepreneur who realized the growing economic and human cost of age-related disease and the promise of aging research to mitigate it. Funded by the SENS Foundation, whose mission is to advance the development of rejuvenation biotechnologies, he moved from the private sector into academic research to complete his PhD studying the secretory phenotype of senescent cells in the Campisi lab. His research involves looking for compounds able to decrease the inflammation associated with senescence either through induction of apoptosis or reduction in secretion.

Michael Velarde
Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Michael received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of the Philippines Manila in 2001, and received his PhD in Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2007. He did a postdoctoral training at the University of California San Francisco in 2009. His current work at the Buck Institute focuses on mitochondrial damage-driven senescence and its importance during the aging process.
